Fearless in Brokenness
Isaiah 43:1-7
On the 1st Sunday in Epiphany, ACK Baricho Church hosted a powerful service centered around Baptism and a fundraiser for the completion of ACK Rwamuthabi Church. The sermon, based on Isaiah 43:1-7, was a reminder of God’s steadfast love and protection in the midst of life’s brokenness.
The Bishop opened the service by emphasizing the importance of remembering that we are God’s creation, even as we live in a broken world. Families, societies, and structures may be broken around us, but we are still created in God’s image. In this world of imperfections, it is crucial to recognize that God sees us and calls us His own.
- Created: The sermon began with the affirmation that we are God’s creation. While the world may be broken, we remain God’s beautiful handiwork, and we are called to honor our Creator. Despite the challenges we face, we are His, and He has a plan for us.
- Redeemed: God has redeemed us. The preacher highlighted Isaiah 43:2, “Even if you pass through the fire, you will not be burned.” Life can be difficult, and we may face trials, but we are redeemed. We don’t need to fear the fires of life because God is with us, and His redemption covers us.
- Branded: God has branded us as His own. In a world full of distractions, it is important to know that we are precious to God. He has set us apart for Himself. As His children, He will pour honor upon us, and His love will be our identity.
- Protected: Isaiah 43:4-5 speaks of God’s protection through the fire and water, contrasting the challenges we face in life. Whether we walk through fire or face turbulent waters, God’s holiness and lordship will protect us. He promises that we are safe in His hands, no matter the struggles.
In the end, we are reminded that despite the brokenness of the world, we are:
- Created by God,
- Redeemed by His grace,
- Branded as His precious children,
- Protected by His power and love.
The service concluded with a prayer, asking God to continue watching over His people, ensuring that no matter the hardships of life, we can walk through them fearlessly, knowing that we are His.
